Thanks for update from my commenter Squash are NOT one of the competition item in the Beijing 2008 Olympic. It will not appear in Year 2012 London Olympic.

In fact, OIC are actually highly politicise. As from the articles, it seems OIC are want to replace softball and baseball with something else. Because only a few country funding such game, especially USA and Japan, while softball are mostly play in EU and few commonwealth country . On the other hand, sports such as Squash and Karate are much widespread compare to other costly sport.

And guess what is the best part ? The squash Olympic campaign are held Singapore, despite Nicol David as World Champion represent Malaysia, I don’t see the news mentioned how Malaysia OIC play their roles in the campaign.

English translation

PRC Chinese standard committee recently create standard for Wheat Flour ManTou : ＧＢ／Ｔ２１１１８－2007. The enforcement start on 1st Jan 2008

A standard Mantou should follow complied to the following guideline

1. Looks
In good shape, typical color, no defect of wrinkle, crumble, yellow/gray/black spot, white hair(fungus) and sticky point. No foreign material used.

2. Contents
The ingredients are even, springy, in sponge conditions. No defect such as big expanding holes, hardening part. And no dry flour and yellow alkali spot. No foreign material used.

3. Chewing factor
No uncook dough, doesn’t stick to the teeth. Soft and not sandy.

4. Smell and taste
Should have the steamed fermented wheat flour characteristic. No unpleasant smell.

Pollution is the biggest problem of Beijing Olympic 2008. Guess how Beijing government help to “reduce” the pollution? The China government curb most of the factories around the cities, some rumor are extend to 500km square . The curb will last for 2 months. Workers are not paid when the factories close down to “reduce” the pollution. Workers on holiday start putting up their “whining” on the Internet due to sudden income cut.

For the pass 4 years of Olympic preparation, Beijing government doesn’t have a solid policies to improve the pollution problem, nor they have effective policies or incentive to encourage surrounding factories to install pollution control equipment.
