KNNCCB, WTF is Lantern Festival? For Chinese, there is no such things as Lantern Festival, but lantern show(灯会 PingYin : Deng Hui）. Lantern show is PART of a festive season celebration, and it is NEVER independent events for Chinese cultures. Take away the culture part, there is no cultural substance to support the lantern show.

Lantern show can be part of the Chinese New Year “ChupGohMei” (15th day of Chinese New Year) to signify spring; a presentation of light in Chinese Mid Autumn festival(AKA mooncake festival), local “temple market gathering”(庙会 ， Pingyin : Miao-Hui),

Just imagine turning Hari Raya Puasa to “Pesta Ketupat”, “Pesta “, Deepavali as “Pesta lampu minyak”, Christmas as “Pesta menukar hadiah”, Valentine as “Pesta bunga Ros”? Even better, how about calling the National day as “Pesta Kibar Bendera”?
