恩妮 “茉莉花的日子” 让我勾起了记忆。 印象中， 城市的孩子没多少机会接触香花。 小时候， 最常接触的是菊花茶。 而菊花却只是作为节日拜祭的用途。 而最常见的官方节日花朵， 却是胡姬花和木槿大红花。

尊为马来西亚国花的木槿， 英文却通称为Chinese hibiscus （latin “Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis”)。 讽刺的是， 虽然印度也是木槿花的原生地， 可是木槿花根本不是马来西亚这土地的原住民。

我很佩服为马来西亚争取独立的人们， 能用开发的心胸来看待外来的文化。 可惜的是， 大多数政府官员和人民， 还是保留着殖民和被殖民的心态。 马来西亚的文化无法与时进步， 而被肤浅的国家主义和种族主义份子骑劫了整整五十年的光阴。

Ehurn Nee blog of Memory of Jasmine make me recall of flower in my memory.

Unfortunately, urban kid like me rarely encounter with fragrant flower. The typical flower are mostly tree like the Golden Raintree, Paper Flower (Bougainvillea), orchids and the national flower – the Bunga Raya hibiscus.

Ironically, the English name for Bunga Raya are Chinese hibiscus. Though Hibiscus also found in India, but hibiscus are not native plant for Peninsular of Malaysia.

I am proud of the open minded of Malaysia founders to make Hibiscus as the national flower. It show the the people and the leader in those era does acknowledge different culture in this land.

Unfortunately, the nation building process is hijacked by racial nationalist and to impose a feudal and monolithic future for Malaysian.

Thanks to the racial cum colonial minded government(and not to forget the people that vote them in), the quasi democracy Malaysia failed to earn a spot in world literacy. The rich multi-racial cultures is means littles except festive season performing art.

Malaysia are wasting 50 years on shallow minded nation definition.
